UNT Frame and More! :)

Hey Everyone!!
I hope you are having a great start to your summer!! :)
I'm enjoying taking my last class at my community college this summer!! YAY!!
Looking forward to starting at University of North Texas
next semester!
I went to a UNT Preview Day, its a special day they open to incoming freshman and transfer students like me :) to check out the campus, meet with people in the field your interested in majoring in, listen to lots of speakers about different organizations you can be a part of, and all that kinda stuff.
So I was sitting there listening to the head football coach talk about how good their team is going to be next year lol and all that and than the cheerleaders did a cheer with the mascot.

The introduced the mascot...... SCRAPPY the EAGLE!!!
So I know I was the only 21 year old student there that thought this was funny. So I laughed to myself and sent my mom a text and said So its meant to be that I go to school here. The mascot's name is Scrappy! She loved it of course and now we have to make a scrapbook layout with me and scrappy someday lol.

Anyway, So I wanted to share with yall what I made for my future apartment someday... Floating Frame!

My mom has made these before and I have been dieing to make one! I had an idea to do "UNT" for my future apartment!
Surface: 5x7 Wood Frame
Papers: from LillyBeeDesigns- Victoria Park Collection
Embellishments: Green Buttons, Green & White Beads,
Tools:
Black Paint, Black Ink Pad, Paint Brushes, Mod Podge,
Glossy Accents, and Letter Templates
(chunky chipboard letters or just a chunky font print off
from the computer)

here is a close up on the letters.

Steps to the Floating Frame
1. Paint your Frame and let it dry
2. Cut your papers 2 inch strips, then figure out what sizes you want by placing your strips on the fame before you cut them again.
3. Ink the edges of your papers, then place them where you want on your frame.
3. Mod Podge your papers on to the frame. Always mod podge the back of your papers first and place it on the frame. Let it sit and completely dry before you mod podge over the top of the papers. (This will help you not to have bubbles on the papers.)
4. Set your frame aside for now, and start working on your letters. Grab your glass from your frame and your letter templates.
Let your letter templates behind the glass and make sure you like where you place them.
5. Grab your Glossy Accents and start coloring in where you letter is showing on to the glass. I would glue in small patches, so your glossy accents doesn't dry up before you get to it. Have your buttons and beads ready! I used my buttons first and placed them where I wanted, then add the beads in the empty spots. Repeat this till all letters are full.
6. Let your letters dry on the glass before you put it in the frame.
7. Put your glass back in the frame and look at your beautiful floating frame you just made!!!
After I finished my mind was racing over all the things I could do!!
My next frame is going to "Mickey" related :)

Im hoping for this to be me in 2 years :)
But I'm happy to say its my older sister, Rachel. She graduated in May from UNT!
She went to school to be a Elementary School Teacher, which fits her perfectly. I'm so proud of her and can't wait to decorate her classroom :) hehe!

Till next time...

Art Group, Ink Sprays, Stencils and more!! :)

Hey Everyone!
I hope ya'll had a great Easter with your family and friends this past weekend!
So today I thought I would inform yall on what I'm really excited about this week! ha ha
If you don't already know the LBH has a Blue House Art Group that meets monthly.
I have attended a few meeting myself but don't always get to come every month.
This month I signed myself up as soon as I found out we are playing with the new Dyan Reavely new Ink Sprays and her Stencils.. plus some really cool embossing paste from Viva Decor!

I saw all of these products at CHA Winter 2012 in January and I was so drawn into it all. Susan and I spent some time at The Crafter Workshop booth checking out all the new stencils and watching some people demo some fun art journaling. So now I'm beyond excited about this class! Dyan is an amazing artist she has a very neat style and I love her work!!

My favorite thing about all of this is that there is no right or wrong way in doing it.
Everything you make is a special creation by you!

Here is another artist that I saw at CHA, her name is Julie Fei-Fan Balzer.
We actually got to attend 2 seminars that she was speaking in. She is such a funny gal she had everyone laughing the whole time but she is also very smart and extremely creative. She has her own line of stencils out also with The Crafter Workshop and has an awesome website and blog full our awesome ideas and products. She does great demo videos as well at www.balzerdesigns.com

I hope this post inspiring you get your hands dirty and play around with some fun stencils on your next art project.. scrapbooking, art journaling, or home decor, you can make any piece look great using all these fun products! :) If you are local to the LBH I encourage you to come to Art Group!! Its so much fun!! My favorite thing about Art Group is that its careful, fun and educational. You are always learning lots of new techniques, tips and tricks on all different products. Plus you get to play around and experiment with different colors and ideas. When its over and of course you don't want to stop but you feel like you can do anything! You have so many ideas going through your head that all you want to do is go home and create! I hope you can join us for Art Group if you can't try your best to schedule yourself for a day or even just a few hours a week or a month to sit down and create! Play around with different colors of ink or paints. Try that new technique you were wanting to do.
Trust me you will love it! :)
    Happy Creating! :)

Trendy Inspiration

I have noticed lots of Subway Art lately on some of the new paper collections and products that we've been getting in this Spring. Fancy Pants , Simple Stories , Jillibean Soup are just a few of the many companies that are following this trend.
Their newest collection each have a Subway Art Inspired
piece of paper in them.
I am really drawn to this look and inspired to do something cool with it. I love this pictures I'm sharing with you that other people have done using Subway Art.. from home decor to fashion to seasonal gifty items , Subway Art is all over the creative world :)

Love this for your own space...

This is a picture of Tim Holtz District Market Totes..
My favorite of all the patterns he has.

I love this Christmas Pillow!!

I thought this was pretty cute to have a song or a poem
on a canvas maybe for a babys room or something.

Neat idea for Seasons..
Frame some Seasonal Subway Art and
change it out for each season

This piece has my name "Kristyn" spelt just the same as I do on!! So Cool I love it!! :)

I love how this is used for a sport theme great for boys! :)
I hope this post inspires you to play around with some
Subway Art !!!

Inside my Spring Break Shopping Bag

Hey Everyone!!
So its Sunday Night... its back to school tomorrow!
Spring Break is such a tease... I'm ready for Summer Vacation!! :)
One thing that is always fun about Spring Break is going Shopping!
I always seem to spend too much money on breaks!
This break I seemed to have more scrapbooking supplies
then shirts and flip flops in my shopping bag  lol
Here is a little of what was in my Spring Break Shopping Bag

This is 3 Bugs in a Rug: One Fine Day Collection -
I love this collection for Easter! I love the bright bold color palette. The cute animals and nature images on the papers and sticker sheet are so much fun! I have lots of fun Easter Egg Hunt pictures at my Grandparent's Farm that will be perfect for this collection. Can't wait to gets some layouts done using One Fine Day!
These papers would be really cute on cards too!

My next have to have was Tea for Two by Cosmo Cricket. So not only did I love this collection at CHA Winter Show! I also have a crazy obsession with everything Tea! I have collected Tea Sets since i was little and have already decided my future kitchen will have a Tea Room theme! :) Plus the colors and patterns on this collection a right on with what I was thinking! So I can't wait to do a fun home decor piece with some of these papers. I also have some really cute pictures of my great grandmother, Gram and I having a tea party when I was about 7 or 8. I remember the whole party it was SO much fun! I would love to do a special layout using some of the fun journal cards, chipboard elements for Tea for Two! This line would be great for any kind of pretty project!

   My next purchase..
 Simple Stories
I love everything they do!
the Simple Stories Staff are the sweetest people on earth!
They are so good to us  at the LBH! It was great getting to see them at CHA Winter this year! Plus their papers are Amazing!

Not only are their collections the most fun and simple way to scrapbook but their SO many great patterns and quotes on each page! You can't just get one sheet of each! It ends up being 2 or 3 sometime 4 sheets haha!!
I love the Fabulous & Awesome Collections!
Colors are great for any kind of project or page you want to do! I love Fabulous and I don't have a Girl to scrap but the papers are great for spring projects or pages too! Now Awesome really got my attention because of my nephew Kaden. Its all Boy! Perfect for any age too! Some many fun quotes that describe boys so well! :)
Documented is very neat too..
It attracted me more than any SS line as a good collection for a gifty project or decor pieces. Since its colors are blacks, browns, creams is makes it very versatile for anything you have to
work on.

That's just a little bit of what was in my Shopping Bag!
You can shop these same collections at the LBH just like I did!
Hopefully I can get around to sharing some pictures of my work I did using these collections!
Check back soon for more from my shopping bag!
Have a great week!! :)

My Valentines Day

Feb 14th 2012
Valentines Day to me is about celebrating LOVE to all the people that you LOVE!
I'm must say my bf did pretty good this year!
He made valentines day sweet and simple!
We started the day early..Wesley came to pick me up and surprised me with pink roses, chocolate heart, twizzlers (my fave.) and some more yummy belly builders (candy)
We headed out to Southlake for a Valentines Day Lunch
(so we wouldn't have to wait with all the crazy valentiners) lol
We went to The Cheesecake Factory, where we were seated right away (always a good thing) We had a very nice lunch always such good service, amazing food, and peaceful environment!! :)
Then we just hung out for the rest of the afternoon caught up on some TV shows we missed and let our tummy settle.
We started to get a little hungry around 6ish and I was not about to go out with the rest of the world and eat so we decide to go to our favorite place... (don't judge)
***Dairy Queen***
in Rhome, TX about 15 miles up the country highway...
It was delish!!
Nothing beats a cold Dr.Pepper, DQ Fries, and a Blizzard :)
I must say I'm a pretty easy girl to please :)
Hope y'all had a happy valentines day!! :)
Love y'all!!
