Something has really been on my heart this past week, so I decided to share with ya'll about it and hope ya'll share with your friends too! I have been back and fourth from a hospital in Dallas with my boyfriend,Wesley and his family. His PAPA is fighting a battle against cancer and have been fighting this battle for serval years now. He such a hardworking, loving,Christian man, who has been a great role model for the family. He very strong and has been holding on tight this few days.I believe God knows when his day will come and whatever day that is, will be the day that he will win that battle against cancer and live in no pain.
Going through this time has really made me think about all my family that I have a lost by cancer, those who are still struggling with it and good friends that recently found out they have cancer at my age. Living through all of this has made me want to give back to all these people that struggle each day and the families as well. There are lots of great organizations out there that everyone can get involved to help.
Something that my family is involved in is The Light the Night Walk for
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Its a great way to honor your love ones who have passed from Leukemia or Lymphoma. Its a huge night walk in Downtown Fort Worth that helps raises money to go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. My Dad was the first to get involved in Light the Nigh Walk. He walked for his best friend in high school who passed away with Leukemia. Almost 2 years ago my grandfather, Poppy passed away with Lymphoma, now my stepmom and family all walk for my Poppy. Not to long away my brothers best friend since the 4th grade found out he had Lymphoma, today is Cancer-Free at the age of 21. I encourage you to check the website out: http://www.lightthenight.org. Light the Night is just one of the many organizations out there. Make a difference and get involved! :)
Sweet post, Kristyn. I can only imagine how heavy your heart is right now. I really feel for Wes and his family. I'm so sorry for what he is going through right now. You are absoluteley right when you say "I believe God knows when his day will come and whatever day that is, will be the day that he will win that battle against cancer and live in no pain." Thank you for encouraging others to give back--I can't imagine there is anyone out there that has not been touched by cancer.
